ABOUT LUKE
Luke, who is originally from the UK, has been residing in Australia since 2002. He has had successful jobs as a research scientist, chef, masseuse, and artist. Self-taught artist who finds inspiration in Australia’s wild and beautiful nature. Australian parrots are his ongoing interest to paint.
His work has been shown in galleries all throughout NSW, and in 2017 he won first place in the international online competition “Art Wars.” In 2018, Outback Creative published his work in a book. He is presently the president of the Ferry Artists Gallery in Wisemans Ferry, NSW, Australia. He enjoys painting, instructing, and producing public art in and around his hometown.

Luke’s painting style has changed as a result of his appreciation for the Bokeh photography method, which produces the appearance of mellow out-of-focus backgrounds when a subject is photographed with a fast lens at its widest aperture.
In his painted works, he enjoys mixing sharp elements with contrasting softness to produce this contrast. This has the effect of making the topic more prominent. Luke discovers that acrylic paints produce the intense colour, precise lines, and delicate layering he seeks in his artwork.
