ANZAC Day April 2015.
Last Saturday (Anzac Day 2015), was one of the happiest days I have ever spent at Wisemans Ferry.
The unveiling of the war memorial all financed and partially built by local townspeople was a credit all concerned, especially Wayne Moore the main ‘mover and shaker’.
A large crowd attended both the Dawn Service and the dedication ceremony. Later, all the surrounding school children and members of supporting organisations participated in the march.
It was a great thrill for me to be a part of the march holding the hands of two of my great grandchildren, Ethan and Savannah – it will be something for them both to look back on later in their lives.
The unveiling of the Wisemans Ferry ANZAC Memorial (ANZAC Day 2015) saw closure to this wonderful project five years in the planning and funding.
I will never forget the moment a stranger walked up to me on ANZAC Day 2011 and placed a card in my shirt pocket, “My name’s Bill, if I can be of assistance, feel free to call me”.
A special thankyou goes out to Del Rio’s Bill McNamara for continually monitoring our progress and never waiving support with financial assistance during critical stages of construction. A mate for life. Sincerely, W.M.
